You know how we love our Try Day Friday series! Each Friday afternoon on our Facebook page, our concept designer Shannon Smith shares a new technique with you LIVE. Isn’t that so fun? This week Shannon is bringing us just a little bit of fall! If you saw the video, we think that this project probably makes you as excited for the turn of seasons as it does us. If you’d like to watch on our YouTube channel, you can see the video right here. Make sure you leave Shannon a comment and let her know how much you enjoyed her projects and appreciate her sharing a fun project with all of us.
Isn’t that just beautiful? It’s so very pretty and I’m positive you think so too. Let’s take a look at how Shannon put it together, shall we?
The Circle Steel Rule Die matches the DIY Hoop almost perfectly – so we cut a sheet of the Good Life Printed Paper to adhere in the hoop with our Journey Glue Dots and it’s a perfect backdrop for the flowers!
Isn’t that great? They go together so well. It’s pretty and neutral!
Now, because we’re creating sunflowers, we’ll start with this Star Burst Bloom Die Set — it’s fun and easy to curl the edges into a realistic looking flower. When you’re ready, you can adhere your three layers together with Medium Journey Foam Squares.
For some accents, we’ll add a few flowers from the Cottage Blooms Die Set. It’s a good companion to the larger sunflower we’re creating.
We’ll take each flower and use the Crease Tool to roll and curl the edges to give them a more realistic look. It’s fun to do, too! Once they are all curled you can adhere these together with small Journey Foam Squares.
When you have flowers you need leaves, too! They make a wonderful accent and we love creating these two tone leaves from our Blooming Details Die Set. The Kiwi Slice and Blue Lagoon cardstocks look fantastic as leaves, who knew?
Now, for the center we can combine a couple of simple elements – a 1.75 inch Scalloped Circle makes a great center. Even better? Layer a 1.5 inch Scalloped Circle of a different color on top of it using the Journey Craft Glue. Before adhering it use the 1/16 circle punch to create the look of Sunflower Seeds. It’s a very fun detail!
You have all the elements so now you can assemble them! You’ll take your Kiwi Slice cardstock and layer a sheet of Fall O Ween Prints on top of it. Then, you can attach them onto the Clipboard Easel using the clip. Add the DIY Hoop and flowers — and you have a beautiful decoration you can switch out for any holiday!
Have you started creating Fall projects yet? Will you now after seeing what Shannon has created? Make sure you share with us on our Facebook page or by using the #funstampersjourney hashtag on Instagram, we’d love to see your take on the card, tag or ANYTHING FSJ.
