You know how we love our Try Day Friday series! Each Friday afternoon on our Facebook page, our concept designer Shannon Smith shares a new technique with you LIVE. Isn’t that so fun? This week Shannon is in the Christmas spirit again and shared a beautiful project we think you will love! She takes ordinary Christmas decor and makes it so very special. You can see the video right here. Make sure you leave Shannon a comment and let her know how much you enjoyed her projects and appreciate her sharing a fun project with all of us.
Fun, right? It looks like anything you would find around a home during the Christmas season, right? But, this is a bit different because it’s handmade and completely customized! We love that you can really make your Christmas decor be anything you want with these fun ideas. Let’s take a closer look at creating the trees, shall we?
The Pine Tree Elements are SO cute and come three in a package. You can start your own little forest with just one package! [And, they are 20% off during the month of August!] Shannon wanted to create a non-traditional color palette, starting with a Peaches And Cream inspired color. It’s easy enough to create using our Bubble Gum and Pineapple Smoothie Acrylic Paints. [Guess what? 20% off in August, as well!] Just mix the two colors together and you get a lovely peach color! Isn’t that fun?
Simply use a brush to paint the acrylic paint mix over the tree. Use as much or as little paint as you need to get the desired level of coating on the tree. You can add just add a bit or really coat it heavily. Up to you!
We just cannot get enough! We’ll repeat the same steps on various other colors to create a pastel holiday wonderland! Don’t forget – you can create whatever color palette works for you and your decor.
While we’re at it, why not create a little Christmas village or scene, too? It’s so easy to do with our House Steel Rule Die!
To keep with the wintery scene we used Whip Cream Cardstock. Once it’s cut, we can begin the folding thanks to the handy score lines.
We love to use the Journey Craft Glue to adhere it all together – it’s so strong and really holds everything in place. But, you could use White Liner or whatever you prefer! Now, for the roof we wanted to try something extra special since it’s Christmas. So, how about a sparkly roof?
With our White Liner Sheets it’s so easy to do something just like that. We cut the roof shape from the White Liner Sheet and adhered one side of the sheet to the roof cut from the Whip Cream Cardstock.
