Try Day Friday and Color Burst Pencils!

April 27, 2018 By funstampers 2 Comments

We live for Fridays!  Not just because it’s the start of the weekend (hooray!) but because it brings us one of our favorite things, Try Day Friday!

Are you familiar with Try Day Friday?  Every Friday afternoon on our Facebook page, concept designer Shannon Smith creates something new LIVE on our page.  She shares exactly how to do a fun technique and it’s so cool to see it in real time. Besides, who doesn’t love learning how to do something new?

This week, Shannon shares with us how to color with the FSJ Color Burst Pencils.  They are gorgeous and oh so fun — but do you really know how to get the most out of them?  Once you’ve stamped your images on cardstock (Shannon used Whip Cream and Black Licorice True Color Fusion Ink) you can really get to work.

One tip Shannon had was to start with a light hand and use super light layers.  This way, you can vary the intensity of the color.  You can simply build upon the color to create a darker hue. You can see that best on the Kayak (with the light aqua color) from our Adventure Awaits Stamp Set — where there are lighter and darker variations of the same color.

Another fun technique is to add a darker color, lightly, over top of the lighter color.  Then, you can use your Color Burst Blenders to create the smoothest tone and really make the colors look so natural! Just absolutely stunning, that is for sure!

Would you like to see how Shannon created this card?  Hop on over to this video on our Facebook page and hear everything Shannon has to say about these wonderful Color Burst Pencils!

This is one of my favorite stamps set. I love how rich the colors you get from our Color Burst Pencils.
