Have you tried our versatile Journey Gel Medium? It’s one product you wanted to see uses for and we’re happy to report that Shannon has done just that in her latest Tryday Friday! In one project she uses the Journey Gel Medium three different ways that is going to have you jotting down all of the ways you want to use it! In this fun home decor project, we will take our House To Home Trio and create a beautiful decoration to keep or give as a gift.
Let’s start with the House To Home Trio and the Romantic Journey Prints, specifically the black map sheet, and the two white patterned sheets, as well. We’ll trace each of the three homes on the OPPOSITE SIDE we’d like to use. Then, you can set the papers aside.
Next, we can squeeze out a small amount of both the Black Licorice Acrylic Paint and the Journey Gel Medium. Let’s mix the two together using our Square Paint Brush and then get to painting the House To Home Trio. Using long continuous strokes, we’ll paint one side of each house, plus each of the edges.
While we are waiting for the paint and Journey Gel Medium to dry, we’ll cut out the house outlines we traced on the Romantic Journey prints paper. Set those aside and pull out a sheet of Whip Cream Cardstock. Trim one down to just slightly larger than the size of the opening of the Victorian Accent (This is a Free Bloom Benefit for orders totaling $100 or more) and then take out the Welcome ATS stamp and ink it up with the Licorice Ink Pad. Stamp it onto the remainder of the Whip Cream Cardstock.
Once you have the stamped image, trim out the stamped image and trace the ink with Journey Glaze. Set it aside to dry. While it is drying, take your Black Licorice Silk and splatter a few splatters of ink on the trimmed down piece of Whipped Cream Cardstock. Turn over the Victorian Accent and place a thin line of Journey Craft Glue around the opening of the frame. Here you can adhere, face down, the trimmed piece of cardstock you added Black Licorice Silk splatters to.
Now, lets use our clean brush and apply a thin layer of plain Journey Gel Medium to the side of the homes that are not painted. You can place the corresponding paper on the Journey Gel Medium. You may have some paper hanging very slightly over the edges. You can use your Blender Tip Cleaners to sand the paper to fit the homes perfectly. (Use the tool as much, or as little, as you wish depending on the level of distressing you would like!)
With the clean edged homes, you can apply a thin layer of Journey Gel Medium over top the paper. Remember the stamped Welcome you trimmed and added Journey Glaze to? Place a few Journey Foam Squares on the back and adhere the stamped Welcome to the frame. Now, you can place a few more Journey Foam Squares to the back of the frame and adhere the frame to the largest home, once the Journey Gel Medium is dry!
But you have two more homes. How should you decorate them? How about taking embellishments from the Vintage Burst? Choose a couple of your favorites and adhere them together using the Journey Glue Dots! To add even more dimension, adhere them directly to the homes using Journey Foam Squares. Now, you’re ready to display these in your own home!
