Hello, Fun friends! We’ve got some great and fun techniques to share with you today using a staple in our craft rooms, the clear block! We’re going to give you a few interesting ways to use those awesome tools with various mediums to create amazing cards you’re so excite to share with your loved ones. What’s even more exciting? This month, October 2018, our clear blocks are 20% off! So, stock up on your favorite sizes or pick up a new size you’ve had your eye on!
Let’s get started with using our clear block as a palette! This one is so easy to do and gives you the option of painting with watercolors thanks to the clear blocks. You’ll want to select a larger one, perhaps Block G. [Or whatever works with your project size!] You’ll also need Journey Color Splash Pencils and a Journey Blending Brush. You’ll make sure you have water inside the Blending Brush and take your Yellow [14 & 16], Pink [5 & 6], Orange , Brown , Green [18 & 20] Journey Color Splash Pencils. Hold the pencils over the block and then use the blending brush to brush/pull the color off onto the block. Now, you have a pool of the colors to smoosh your cardstock onto creating a beautiful watercolor background for your card.

So, that was so fun, but that’s not all! We have even more we think you’ll love. How about the clear blocks with acrylic paint? Interested? So are we! This sounds super fun and creative. You’ll start by using the long side of Block C to press into paint on a non-stick surface. Place that edge at a horizontal angle onto the long side of Fall-O-Ween card panel and rub up and down to create a thin layer of paint on both sides of card panel. Repeat for desired look.
Again, you’ll use the long side of Block C to press into paint on a non-stick surface. Coming from same horizontal angle onto the long side of Fall-O-Ween card panel, do quick brush strokes to create lines. Press into more paint as needed, and apply more globs of paint to the block as well. Do on both sides of card panel. Repeat for desired look.
Then using the same technique, instead of a quick brush stroke with block, do a tap tap tap along each side. Do on both sides of card panel. Repeat for desired look. You can create whatever you can dream up! No rules at all. Love that!

Isn’t that so neat? Not only is the technique sound like it would be a lot of fun to do — but the colors are all so pretty together. Love the way the Pool Play really pops with the Haystack.
What about stamping with the block? Sounds fun! What if we even take it a step further to stamp with the block? OH YES! Wrap Clear Block B multiple times with Natural Journey Twine until the surface is covered.
Here’s where it gets fun! Spray 6-8 squirts of water from Media Mister onto Clear Block F and drop 6-8 drops of Limeade Splash Liquid Color into water. Stamp Journey Twine covered block into diluted Limeade Splash Liquid Color until threads are saturated. Blot off threads and stamp 3 times down the left side of 3 ¾” x 5” Whip Cream panel. Re-ink, blot threads and stamp 3 times again down the right side of the panel.
Tip: Try for a two-tone stamping look by placing two puddles of Liquid Color onto the same block and stamp your dry threads into them. Make sure they are complementary colors that normally blend so you don’t end up with a muddy color. Yes, please!
