You know how we love our Try Day Friday series! Each Friday afternoon on our Facebook page, our concept designer Shannon Smith shares a new technique with you LIVE. Isn’t that so fun? This week Shannon used a really fun technique that even she hadn’t tried before! You can see the video right here. Make sure you leave Shannon a comment and let her know how much you enjoyed her lovely card.
Oh my! Isn’t that Turtley Awesome?! Yes, yes it is! Shannon really outdid herself this week. Should we talk a little bit about the techniques she used? Because we’re pretty sure you’re going to be surprised when you see how fun and easy this can be.
The first thing to know here is that this card is beautiful, but the techniques used are relatively simple and don’t require a lot of products. In fact, most of which you probably own. Like our True Color Fusion Ink Pads!
After stamping this awesome guy from the Turtley Awesome stamp set onto Whip Cream Cardstock using the Black Licorice True Color Fusion Ink Pad – Shannon simply stamped Sweet Pear, Lemon Grass and Green Olive True Color Fusion ink pads onto a clear block. Using Fusion Blender in a small Blending Brush, you can color. Isn’t that so neat?
Now, the background looks so amazing it MUST be complicated, right? Nope! It simply requires a little more of the Fusion Blender, a Journey Gel Press, a brayer and Lovely Blue, Blue Lagoon, Sweet Pear and Cool Pool re-inkers. Simply dot the colors on the Journey Gel press, and add a sparing amount of the Fusion Blender.
It’s looking good and blending together – but let’s keep blending a little bit more…
That is just right. We’ll use this as the background of the card and stamp a couple of the plant images [from the Turtley Awesome stamp set] directly onto the Journey Gel Press and then take a pull onto our Whip Cream Cardstock panel.
No two pulls are ever the same — each print will look totally different! It’s such a wonderful and fun to do technique.
We’ll also use the Journey Gel Press like a stamp pad. We’ll press the stamp into the blended ink and then stamp on top of the print we previously pulled. So incredibly beautiful!
Have you tried this technique before? Will you now after seeing what Shannon has created? Make sure you share with us on our Facebook page or by using the #funstampersjourney hashtag on Instagram, we’d love to see your take on this great technique.
