You know how we love our Try Day Friday series! Each Friday afternoon on our Facebook page, our concept designer Shannon Smith shares a new technique with you LIVE. Isn’t that so fun? This week Shannon used a really fun new product – we think you’ll love it! You can see the video right here. Make sure you leave Shannon a comment and let her know how much you enjoyed her lovely card.
Don’t you just love it? It’s so cheerful and fun, not to mention interactive. That pretty much makes it perfect for anybody, don’t you think? Besides, there are always so many birthdays it’s fun to try something new like this beauty Shannon created! Let’s have an overview of how Shannon created this one, shall we?
First we started with the Birthday Candles Stamp and Die sets from the Celebrations section of our catalog. This stamp set is a two step stamping set and we love how playful it is. It’s meant to be whimsical and the indexing on the back helps you line up the outline with the filler stamps — don’t you love that?!
Now because this is a Z Fold Card [did you catch that this was Shannon’s first time creating this type of card?!] there are several pieces of paper with different dimensions and with different placement for the score lines. Shannon used a sheet of Limeade Splash cardstock cut to 8 inches by 4.5 inches and scored at 4 1/8 and 6 inches using our brand new Journey Scoring Board. She also used a sheet of Turbo Teal cardstock cut to 7 3/4 inches by 4 1/4 inches and scored at 4 and 5 7/8 inches. This will create the base of the card.
Shannon did the same thing with a strip of Good Vibe printed paper and Turbo Teal cardstock. They were cut to 1 1/4 inches by 7 3/4 inches and then scored at 4 and 5 7/8 inches. Now that we have the cutting and scoring out of the way, here comes the fun!
Don’t you love it? The Z fold looks so cool and you can easily layer various “hidden” elements in the fold!
Don’t forget to add the sentiment! It’s such a fun way to add both the message but also some personality to the card. We love the circle that Shannon chose – it’s perfect with this playful card. So very fun, don’t you think?
Did you see all of the videos that were shared in July on our Facebook page? There were so many fun ones that it feels like we must have broken a record for number of techniques tried and videos posted. If you missed any make sure you go back and watch them and share your favorites with a friend!
