Let’s keep crafting with our Journey Gel Press! We’ve shown you a few projects, but today Kim Kesti, FSJ’s Design Concept Manager, takes us through some basics. Create simple one-of-a-kind projects with our Journey Gel Press and a stencil.
First off, what in the world is a Journey Gel Press? You may have heard us talk about it, but like most crafters you probably really need to see it right?! If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at our Journey Gel Press Care & Storage video. Kim Kesti will explain it all and take you through how to care for it once it finally arrives at your doorstep.
Hopefully it’s making a bit more sense. Let’s see what this Journey Gel Press can really do. Watch as Kim creates a simple project using just the Gel Press, the Starburst Lines Stencil and Black Licorice Acrylic Paint in the video below.
Quick step-by-step recap:
Choose your favorite stencil and place it on your Journey Gel Press. The gel is tacky so the stencil will stay on. Then add just a couple dabs of your paint color. Use the Brayer to smooth out the paint. As Kim explains, you don’t always have to get every part of the stencil evenly. For this project, she purposefully adds more paint to the middle and less on the side. This way when she removes the stencil from the Journey Gel Press, the printing plate has darker color in some areas and lighter color in others.
Lay your cardstock panel over the Journey Gel Press and press down for your one-of-a-kind background design.
Finish your project with your favorite sentiment and embellishments.
