Can you even stand the fun?! I know we can’t. We’re so excited to get ready for summer and fun ideas that will be fun to create during the warm seasons.
That is a pile of fun, isn’t it? Add in our Matchbox Die and we are able to create anything you want. We want to create popsicles and we’ll show you how.
You can take any color cardstock you would like to use, perhaps colors that match your party decor! We used Lemon Drop, Bubble Gum, Pool Play and Watermelon Fusion but any combination would be great. (Can you even imagine all of the different possibilities?) You’ll need to cut an extra panel of the card stock in order to create the popsicle shape – which is why making the popsicles different colors is a natural choice.
To create square popsicles, run the Matchbox die through your Platinum machine (steel rule dies only fit in the Platinum – the Amaze is too small). The die provides cut outs for the open box inside, as well as the square sleeve that wraps around the box. You will use White Liner Tape to assemble the open box and sleeve.
If you would like to make the longer popsicle, use the sleeve cut out as your guide, making the width of the cut out 1.5” wider than the initial die cut. Measure and mark the score lines, then cut with paper trimmer and wrap around the standard-sized assembled matchbox. This makes a faux rectangular box, allowing for a more realistic popsicle shape
You’ll want to make sure to use your crease tool to get a great, deep crease. This will help really help your box retain it’s shape and hold whatever contents inside. Speaking of contents! They will help hold the whole box together, no adhesive needed. Isn’t that cool? Of course, you may you use adhesive to adhere items to the outside of the box – but no need to break out the glue for the box itself. All you’ll need is a popsicle stick, which you can pick up at any craft store. (Slice one end of the matchbox with a Craft Knife or sharp scissor blade, just wide enough to slip a popsicle stick into it.)
How you decorate your boxes is most of the fun! We chose a globe of honeycomb paper (excuse to go to the party supply store?! YES, please!) and used our Journey Craft Glue to adhere it to the top of the treat box. You know we couldn’t stop there, though!
Multi color stripes, Watermelon Fusion Satin Ribbon and polka dots (either use the circle punch shapes or an eraser with acrylic paint!) were also part of the fun! We couldn’t even begin to choose a favorite, how about you?
Are you going to try this super fun idea? Make sure you tag us on social media when you do. We’d love to see how you bring paper to life!
